NOTD #2

Last week I entered a twitter competition to win an Illamasqua nail varnish and I was lucky enough to win! It arrived today and was on my nails within minutes. The shade I received was Pink Raindrops, a lovely pastely mink with a hint of iridescence running through it.

I love pastel colours and this one is a great addition to my collection! This is in fact my first Illamasqua nail varnish and I was very impressed with the formula, I only needed one coat to get the colour in the bottle!

Have you tried any Illamasqua Nail Varnishes? What colours would you recommend?

The Color Run

Those of you who follow me on twitter (@peonyandpeach) will know that on sunday I took part in The Colour Run in London! It's a really fun day which will be happening every year and all the money raised goes to Cancer Research.

The run is a very laid back 5k, I went on a few practise runs so that I wasn't terrible on the day, but we were having so much fun throwing coloured powders at each other that we forgot to run most of the time!

A few things to remember if you're going to give it a go next year, leave your ipod at home, there's music blasting speakers all the way along the run. Take a camera so you get lots of good pictures, and get all your friends together and go in a big group!

If you live in Manchester, Belfast or Brighton you can still do it this summer! For dates and more information, check out their website www.thecolorrun.co.uk

Hope you enjoy the happiest 5k on the planet!

Today I did blue ombre nails! I'm quite new to the world of nail art so I thought I'd start of with an easy one!

I started with my usual base coat - Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base Coat

From left:

Yves Saint Laurent - La Laque No37 (Unfortunately this in a discontinued shade)

I then finished with a coat of Kensington Caviar Top Coat

What do you think of this look? Have you ever tried ombre nails?

Mini Makeup On the Go

I love to have a little mini makeup bag handy at all times, for when I just need to touch up or do my makeup on the go! I start with the Benefit Porefessional Primer to give me a smooth shine free surface and give my makeup a bit more lasting power. Mine is the mini size which comes in the Benefit How to Look the Best at Everything kit. I then work in the Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup in "I'm So Glamber" Amber with my fingers, again mine is a mini size from the same kit. A quick dab of Mac Studio Finish Concealer in NC45 under the eyes and on blemishes and thats base done!

For eyes I usually keep things simple, a bit of Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Barley on the tear duct and under the brow bone and a quick swipe of Clinique High Impact Mascara in 01 Black opens and perks up tired eyes. I also keep Clinique Chubby Stick for Eyes in 03 Fuller Fudge and Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense in 01 Intense Black with me for when I need to step it up a notch. A quick swipe of the Chubby stick across the entire eyelid and the eyeliner across the lashline smudged out with a finger creates an effortless evening look in about 30 seconds flat!

I recently picked up Benefit Gettin' Cheekya lovely little trio of minis all of which I'd been wanting to try for a while. First up Posie Tint a lovely rose pink lip and cheek stain which I reserve just for cheeks, its a bit runny for the lips if you ask me! A quick dab of this subtle formula onto the cheeks with fingers gives a lovely healthy glow, without the risk of clown cheeks! If I have time, a touch of Benefit Sun Beam on the top of cheekbones, down to centre of the nose and across the cupids bow really lights up the face.

For lips I have two options, Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in 06 Woppin' Watermelon (Mine is a mini which came in a gift with purchase) and Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in 015 Tutti Frutti both lovely summertime shades which are sheer enough to apply without a mirror but give a lovely wash of colour.

A blob of Jurlique Lavender hand Cream (another mini GWP) and a quick spritz of Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise (mini set here)and I'm ready to face the day!

Make your own Bath Melts

A really simple way of making some lovely bath melts! You'll only need 4 things,

Essential Oil of your choice

Dried Flowers (I made my own but you can get some here)

Petit Four Cases (I got mine from tesco but here are some cuter ones!)

Melt the coco butter in the microwave for 30 seconds then add about 8 drops of your essential oil.

Crumble in some of the dried flower petals and give the whole thing a stir.

Carefully spoon the mixture into the petit four cases.

Add the prettiest of your petals to the top and leave them to set. Don't attempt to move them before they're fully set.

Once your melts are set, (about 4 hours should do it) you're good to go! Pop them into a jar and keep them by your bath, or wrap them up to give someone as a homemade gift! When you're ready to use one just take it out of the case and drop it into a hot bath, lay back, and relax....
